Sharing Learning with Others: As indicated, the Design Planning Sheet (5.1) will collect a substantial amount of information regarding the children’s ideas and plans. As the children work through their plans, collect work samples along the way. The children may not finish in one, two, or even three days. Because young children are developing a sense of perseverance, having all the materials ready to go when they intend to resume their work is crucial. Not only will having these items be helpful for the children in their design execution, but they will also make for authentic pieces for discussion in a parent-teacher conference. When children have finished making artwork, showcasing it in a way that shows it is being valued is imperative. Consider these possible ways of showcasing children’s artwork:

•taking photographs and displaying on a bulletin board

•framing drawings and paintings

•displaying 3D objects on small risers or pedestals

•sharing a photo gallery online

•having an art gallery showing every other month

•featuring a classroom artist with an interview and some of the artist’s favorite creations
